About the Symposium

The MAJ has designated the period June 7-14, 2015 as MAJ’s Golden Jubilee Week. The week of celebration will consist of a blend of social and networking functions, community service as well as professional development programs. Within its professional development mandate, the MAJ has consistently hosted a Medical Symposium annually since 2002. These symposia provided the fora for discussions of health information and policies within the context of their suitability for developing economies. This year the theme of the conference is focused on Non-Communicable diseases. The topic this year is consistent with the national health priority and reflects an acknowledgement of the epidemiological transition in disease patterns that have transpired in the 50 years of MAJ’s existence. The symposium committee has assembled distinguished International and local faculty to discuss the latest advances in prevention, diagnosis and management of these disorders during symposium.
Dr. Shane Alexis

This year's symposium is a golden opportunity for all stakeholders in health to meet, learn and build consensus in planning for Jamaica's health sector for the next 50 years
